Marketing guru, Seth Godin, explains these assets in a recent blog post titled, “Where are you assets?

How can you build these assets in relationship to your business?

For example, one way to build a brand is through word-of-mouth marketing. You don’t always have to pay money for promotion. An example of permission is getting people to sign up for an email list. In this scenario, a company needs permission from the customer to be contacted via email. A way you can build expertise is through work experience. For example, an employee at a car manufacturer that has been working for 10 years will most likely have more expertise than an employee straight out of college. There can be exceptions though.
