Attend the “Funding Your Startup” presentation next Monday, March 11 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in 7 Haviland, Room 310!

On March 11, the Berklee Business Startup Initiative will be hosting Kim Pfluger, owner of Keep The Edge Studios. Kim graduated from the Music Business/Management major in 2010, with a concentration in the Entrepreneurial track. While still enrolled at Berklee, Kim began building a business plan for her “dream” recording studio. Drawing heavily from her coursework in the major, she was able to successfully acquire enough funding to build and open her studio, Keep The Edge Studios, in Quincy, MA.

The Berklee Business Startup Initiative is a program designed to help Berklee students develop and launch small businesses. The program began as part of the Entrepreneurial Practicum class within the Music Business/Management department at Berklee College of Music with the aim of giving students the opportunity to transform their business ideas into successful startups. Students submit a brief application explaining their business idea and detailing their progress with the project, if any. Upon review, the Berklee Startup Initiative team, with the guidance of Music Business faculty, will help guide the student through a series of steps to develop a detailed business and marketing plan. The team also offers weekly consultations to students at different stages of the business startup process. The Berklee Business Startup Initiative collaborates with the U.S. Small Business Administration, which helps students understand the process of loan applications to fund their businesses.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) backs Kim’s business loan. On Monday she will talk about how she was able to successfully receive a loan for her business with no credit history. You are welcome to join us at 7 Haviland, room 310 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.
